EMARR’s (Eastern Middle Anthracite Region Recovery) mission is to plan and implement a comprehensive reclamation of the blighted lands and polluted waters created by decades of historic coal mining activity within the EMAR. Since its organization in 2000 EMARR has completed compilation of an extensive GIS data base and a comprehensive watershed assessment which quantifies and qualifies the AML discharges within the region. With these tools EMARR will draft a comprehensive master plan to clean up these discharges over the next decades to restore water resources land for economic development and community recreation.
